There has been an update from the Welsh Government regarding the use of face masks and social distancing, so we would like to take the chance to update you on the situation at our stations and on our trains

From Monday 14th September, it is compulsory for face masks to be worn in any of our station buildings and on our trains except when eating or drinking.

FACE MASKS – MUST be worn when getting on the train and when entering or leaving carriages:

There are two ways to travel on Llangollen Railway; in a private compartment or in open seating.

Passengers who travel in private compartments, can remove their face masks once settled in their compartments. You must not move from your compartment during the journey. Once you reach Carrog you must replace your mask before leaving your compartment and exiting the train. When you return to the train for the return journey you must put your face mask back on before entering the train and you can then remove it again once in your compartment.

Passengers in open seating MUST leave their face masks on for the duration of the journey. Your face mask can be removed when on the platform as Carrog but you MUST replace your face mask before getting back on the train. You must remain in your seat for the duration of the journey.

SOCIAL DISTANCING – remains at 2m in Wales, unlike the situation in England and Scotland, so please bear this in mind when walking around the station and cafes. Please also follow the guidance on notices placed in areas where we have to limit numbers such as entering the shop or café. This is to help maintain reasonable social distancing

Llangollen Railway takes the safety of its passengers, volunteers and staff very seriously and we would like to thank you all for adhering to these measures and helping keep us all safe.

Enjoy your journey and keep safe and well
