PRYCE HUGHES Coal Merchant & General Carrier, GLYNDYFRDWY LIMITED EDITION WAGON
This is a limited edition of 141 wagons commissioned by the Group and portrays a private owner wagon as it may have appeared in the 1930s.
Pryce Hughes was a coal and coke merchant and general carrier who operated his business until at least the 1930s from the GWR Wharf at Glyndyfrdwy. Most of the railway business at Glyndyfrdwy came from freight. But this was a quiet village and Pryce Hughes offered to carry Anything Anytime Anywhere to maintain business. In
addition to the GWR wharf and sidings there was a narrow gauge tramway serving the Moel Fferna & Deeside Slate & Slab Quarries Ltd, with a transhipment facility to GWR. The GWR sidings with capacity for 10 and 13 wagons were opened in 1877 and continued in use until November 1964.
Price £9.95.

Llangollen Cafe , now called ‘Victoria’s’ is a ‘hit’ with the public. The pictures on the cafe walls show the station at around the turn of the 20th century.
There were a great many complementary things said about the new decor, the new coffee machine and the better lighting when the cafe opened. The side door is now open as well which will bring in passing customers just wanting a snack in a different atmosphere. Maybe they will also have a ride on the train.
The pictures above were taken on Saturday 1st May
